Friends might soon see in various sources that I'm going to retire on 31st July. That's a purely technical thing and in fact I'm not moving from St Mary Magdalene with St James, Norwich, and Cassie and I aren't going anywhere else, till the end of November 2023.
What is real, though, is that unbelievably I pass the 40th anniversary of my ordination as a priest on 3rd July. People tell me I ought to mark this in some way! For various reasons any sort of 'celebration' isn't happening till Sunday 17th July; our Eucharist will be at 9:30 as usual, followed by coffee and a good bit of general mardling time, until 12 noon when there'll be a reasonably simple lunch in the church hall with lots of goodies provided by our wonderful social committee. Obviously it'd be great to have lots of friends there! So if you'd like to come either to the service or the lunch or both, could you please contact me not later than Sunday 3rd July?
And although there's no reason this should be a fund-raising thing, I have set up a JustGiving page for anyone to make donations, if you wish, either to the Sewell Barn Theatre or to the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. (JustGiving insists on having a target, so I've put a nominal target of £200 each - £400 for 40 years - but in fact if it gets there we'll move the goalposts!)
